A Fundraiser for Jo's Top Surgery
To my family, friends, and loving community - thank you. Whether we have known each other for a lifetime or are strangers nurturing a shared community, I appreciate you so very much for supporting my fundraiser for top surgery.
Navigating attaining top-surgery as a currently uninsured young-adult has been emotionally and physically draining. In order to pay for initial consultations and travel expenses, I worked 60 hour weeks.
Thanks to the generous donations made thus far, I was able to make an initial $2,000 deposit to secure my surgery date on May 9th.
Without insurance coverage, my surgery will cost $10,500, plus travel expenses. My surgeon requires payment in full, 3 weeks before surgery (April 18, 2022).
Much out of my comfort zone, I am reaching out to my community for support in funding this necessary procedure in my journey home to self. I am so grateful for the support of each one of you.
I am so excited to finally receive this procedure and walk through the world with my shoulders back and my confidence high. Feeling my body in motion has always been the way I find joy. I cannot wait to finally feel the wind on my chest as I longboard, the swish of a shirt as I dance, and the swirl of the water as I take my first liberated swim.
Each of your donations takes me one step closer to liberation.
A note on this website:
I decided to create my own website for my fundraiser, hosted on WIX, in lieu of using a crowdfunding site. Crowdfunding sites take up to 7% of donations, which is $700 of the $10,000 I need! So, in order to stretch donations further and ensure 100% of your money goes to the cause you support, I'll be updating this website myself.
So how does my donation site work? Donations are made directly to me via the PayPal link or Venmo QR code found on this site.
To ensure transparency, I manually update the amount raised and amount needed each day. You can find this updated graph under the "Amount Raised" tab at the top of this site.
